Assessment Policy

Is this Assessment Policy different from the Assessment Policy that was submitted for the previous program year?
Yes
Please describe the changes made to the Assessment Policy in the box below and click save when finished.
  1. Deleted assessments that will no longer be accepted: CASAS Math GOALS, CASAS Life and Work, BEST Literacy, BEST Plus 2.0. Also deleted wording in the policy that referred to the extension of approvals for these assessments.
  2. Added new assessments: CASAS Math GOALS 2, CASAS Listening STEPS, CASAS Reading STEPS, BEST Literacy 2.0, BEST Plus 3.0
  3. Revised the guidance for selecting assessments for appropriate populations to align with new assessments. Additional revisions may be necessary when more information is available from test publishers.
  4. In the Assessment Training information for TABE, we reduced the number of tests that someone has to administer under the supervision of a qualified assessor from three to two.
  5. Updated Tables 1 and 2 to reflect changes to the approved assessments.
  6. Updated the links in the Additional Resources section.
  7. Deleted outdated wording regarding which assessments to enter in our data collection, eData. The old wording allowed programs to enter only the assessment related to the content area that a student wanted to focus on. Since students can show MSG on any assessment, not just the one with the lowest EFL, we are requiring programs to enter all assessments.
  8. Removed wording that required programs to keep informal formative and summative assessments in the program records.
  9. There are also revisions to wording throughout to clean up the text. These revisions do not change the meaning of the content.
